Welcome to Maineglads.net!

This is the website of the Maine Gladiolus Society, a group dedicated to the celebration of the beauty of gladiolus, as well as the promotion of gladiolus as a garden and cut-flower. The society's annual activities include a spring bulb auction, and a late-summer exhibition of blooms.

Our Annual Show

The 74th annual Maine Gladiolus Society Exhibition is scheduled for August 30th, 2015 in the exhibition hall at the Windsor Fair. Setup is from 9 to noon, judging from noon to 2, and the show is open to the public from 2 to 5.

From 5 to 5:30, the show will be dismantled, and at 5:30 PM, show blooms will be sold to the public for $5 per dozen. For a full report from the 2014 show, click here. The show schedule for the 2015 show, along with arrangement categories, is available here.

Our Bulb Auction

We had a great turnout at our annual bulb auction, which was held at the South China Community Church on April 11th, from 10 AM to 3 PM. As in previous years, we had a wide variety of heirloom, new, and foreign glads on which folks could bid. Some lots had outright bidding wars on them! We look forward to seeing the results in bloom this summer.

Our Legacy

Bob Martinís wish for the future of glads in Maine was that we continue to promote glads through the showing of the blooms and the sale of glads as cut flowers. We have continued to act in the spirit of his suggestion, in order to honor his many years of contributions to the Maine Gladiolus Society.
