Welcome to Maineglads.net!
The 70th annual Maine Gladiolus Society Exhibition was scheduled for August 28, 2011 in the exhibition hall at the Windsor Fair, but didn't take place until August 29 due to Mother Nature's intervention. For the full 2011 show report, click here.
Bob Martin’s wish for the future of glads in Maine was that we continue to promote glads through the showing of the blooms and the sale of glads as cut flowers. Our activities in 2010 were in the spirit of his suggestion.
Our 2010 annual bulb auction featured bulbs from growers in the US and Canada, with several European varieties included. The sale brought in a satisfactory profit, though not a “handsome” one like the income from our 2009 sale featuring more European glads. As usual we enjoyed the hospitality of the South China Community Church. Faith Ames provided a delicious lasagna luncheon.
We approached the August glad show with trepidation, but it turned out much better than we had feared.
